A cholent is a baked or simmered dish of beans, grains, meats and vegetables, usually left overnight in a warm oven or for the afternoon.

Cooking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 120c/250f/.
heat the fat or oil in a flameproof casserole add the onions and chopped garlic and cook for 5 minutes add the Tuscan Bean mix with pearl barley,

Add the whole garlic cloves,paprika,cayenne pepper,tomatoes, celery,carrots,turnip,chopped potato,brisket,smoked beef,stewing beef,the eggs in there shell ,stock and season well

cover and bake for 3 hours

check if the cholent needs more water (there should still be a little on top)add a little water if necessary, or if there is too much liquid add the extra sliced potatoe or a handfull of rice.
cover and bake for a further 1-2 hours. season and serve hot serve each portion with a egg.
1 packet of Tuscan bean mix with pearl barley
6 tbsp rendered chicken/goose duck or olive oil
2 onions chopped
14 cloves of garlic half chopped and half left whole
1.5 tbsp paperika
2-3 pinches of cayenne pepper
400g can of chopped tomatoes
1 celery stick chopped
3 carrots sliced
1 small turnip diced
2-3 baking potaoes peeled and cut onto large chunks and 1 potatoe sliced
500g beef brisket whole or cut into cubes
250g smoked beef
250g stewing beef
4-6 eggs
1litre water and500ml beef stock
1.5 litre water with 2 stock cubes
handfull or rice optional
salt and ground pepper
a heavy bottomed flameproof casserole dish with fitted lid
