Festive Mincemeat Flan

Background Info:
My mum and my grandmother make this every year for Christmas but mum likes it so much she makes it during the year as well.

40min(s) Cooking Instructions:
1. Set oven to 200c or Gas Mark 4
2. Roll out pastry and line the tin or flan dish
3. Spread mincemeat over pastry base
4. Cut fruit in halves lengthways and place on mincemeat
5. Mix flour and butter/margarine to make breadcrumbs
6. Add almonds, sugar and essence to flour and mix
7. Sprinkle mixture over pears and the gaps in-between
8. Put the flan into the oven
9. Bake for 20 minutes
10. Reduce heat to 160c/170c or Gas Mark 3 and bake for a further 20 minutes
11. Serve with cream and juice of pears

7 ½ oz Shortcrust Pastry
5 Tablespoons Mincemeat (I usually ignore this and use half a jar!!!!)
15 ½ oz Fresh or can of pears
2 oz Plain Flour
1 oz Margarine/Butter
1 oz Caster Sugar
1 oz Ground Almonds
¼ Teaspoon Almond Essence
Equipment:
The 40 mins preparation time includes 30 mins of pastry 'cooling' time in the fridge.
If you've bought your own pastry or pastry base this should only take 10 mins to prepare.
Only vegetarian if using vegetarian mincemeat and pastry. Vegetarian
