Spicy Bangers and Beans

Submitted By:

Background Info:
A hearty recipe that can be pre-made. It can also be frozen (if you make too much by accident or on purpose). The ingredients can be tailored to suit tastes e.g. add more chillies if you like a hot kick or omit kidney beans if no-one likes them. I sometimes use baked beans for this recipe as they are what I have in my store cupboard.

Cooking Instructions:
Add oil to a large pan (one that has a lid)
Fry sausages in pan until brown.
Retain juices but remove sausages from pan and chop in half.
Add chopped bacon and onion to pan, fry and stir loosening any 'stuck' bits for about 10 minutes.
Add garlic and chilli and fry for a few more minutes to catch all those lovely flavours.
Add sugar, tomatoes, wine and 10fl oz of water. Stir.
Add sausages and beans.
Bring to the boil and cover and cook for 20 minutes over a low heat.

Can be served with crusty bread or potatoes, or eaten with a spoon as a thick hearty soup.
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 pork sausages
4 rashers of streaky bacon
1 red onion - chopped
1 large clove garlic - chopped
